Rookwood, Russian Memorial

The Russian Memorial in Rookwood Necropolis, the largest multicultural cemetery in the southern hemisphere, in the western suburb of Rookwood. It was built by Michael Bakich  and the inscription reads: In memory of all Russian Orthodox people resting in peace throughout the world. Memorial consecrated by Archbishop Theodosy 7th May 1978.

  1. Jim, you never run out of places to photograph, do you? It's amazing, and this temple is intriguing. I like that it is multicultural.

  4. It's a nice memorial. I've always wondered why the bottom bar on the cross is slanted.

    1. There are many explanations but it's basically a footrest and in many depictions of Christ, his right side is higher.
